Church Lock- In

On the 14th of May we had a lock-in at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church. Five kids came and I was the only boy, I still had a great time though. We started the lock-in at 8:00 and ended at about 6:00 O'clock in the morning. First we played a quick game of basketball then we had a quick devotion ( led by my father) and we were sent out on a treasure hunt. Each of the kids were sent with a partner and sent in different direction to look for Bible cards ( in which we had to look up in the Bible) after reading the verse my partner and I had to write down the Bible verse on a piece of paper, the Bible verse would give you a clue to the next Bible verse. Whichever group found all the Bible verses would win the treasure hunt. My partner and I would have won but we forgot to also write down the destinations of the Bible verse cards.

For the next couple of hours we played Wii or Playstaion 2, and we also had more devotions. Close to 2:00 O'clock in the morning we played a board game, then had our last devotion. After our devotion we were allowed to spend the rest of the morning doing whatever activity we chose. One of the kids already went to sleep while me and the rest of the kids played hide and seek in the church for about an hour. At about 4:45 I fell asleep in the conformation room and woke up for breakfast. After breakfast some of the parents came and picked there kids up but I had to help and clean. Overall I had a great time.

Stain Glass Rock Candy

Stain glass windows are some of the most beautiful works of art from medieval history. My mom and I made stain glass window shapes out of rock candy.
In the medieval times many people were poor and could not afford Bibles. That is why many stain glass windows are made of scenes from the Bible. Stain glass windows were made out of sand and ash and then put together with lead segments.

First we boiled the sugar into hard ball stage liquid.

Second we put the food coloring into the different cups then we dropped sugar into each of the cups and stirred them together.
Next we poured the colored sugar into the shapes mixing the different colors.

Then we poured the rest of the liquid into a container to make rock candy

The shapes turned into beautiful, delicious works of art.
